Former assistant baseball coach at Texas Tech and Oklahoma State was officially hired at Tech once again to be the assistant softball coach. Evans coached under Larry Hays at Tech, this as two separate time, he then moved to Oklahoma State to coach under Frank Anderson.

It will be Evans first time coaching softball, but he does have experience in playing softball with his family in summer leagues.

During his two separate tenures at Texas Tech he helped the Red Raiders achieve remarkable success. A 371-174 record, 7 floury win seasons, and 6 trips to the NCAA tournament.

Here is a quote from Evans himself on joining the Texas Tech softball program. This quote was first released from the LAJ.

“I’ve kept up with Shanon over the years and I’m excited to be back in Lubbock to join him and his staff,” Evans said in a statement from the school. “Fastpitch is a game I’m very familiar with so I’m looking forward to working with our players and continuing the winning tradition that Tech has established under Shannon’s leadership.”
