LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech junior cross country runner Kennedy Kithuka is set to compete Saturday at the NCAA Championships in Louisville, Ky.
Kithuka, who is the first Texas Tech male runner to qualify for the NCAA Championships since 2006, will compete in the 10,000-meter race at 1:15 (ET) Saturday after finishing first overall at the Mountain Regional meet on Nov. 9.
He will look to become Texas Tech's first ever male NCAA Cross Country Champion and first champion overall since former Lady Raider Sally Kipyego won the NCAA Cross Country Championships in 2008.
Kithuka won the 10,000-meter Mountain Region race with a time of 29:36.8 at the Collindale Golf Course in Fort Collins, Colo.
Kithuka is unbeaten in six races this year and became the first Texas Tech male to win the Big 12 Cross Country Championship in school history while helping the Red Raiders to their best team finish in school history.
