LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech earned its highest ITA Preseason Tennis Ranking ever, as the Lady Raiders enter the poll at No. 21 to start the spring season.
The Lady Raiders are coming off of a 19-6 season, including an 8-1 mark in Big 12 play, and a Big 12 Conference regular season title.
Texas Tech is one of three Big 12 Conference team ranked inside the Top 30, joining No. 11 Texas and No. 15 Baylor. In all, seven teams in the Big 12 are ranked inside the ITA Top 75.
The Red Raiders have 18 opponents on the 2013 schedule that grace the ITA Top 75, including seven in the Top 30.
Individually, Samantha Adams (7-3) is ranked No. 49 in singles and is one of three Big 12 players ranked in the ITA Singles Top 50. In doubles, the tandem of Rashmi Teltumbde and Nikki Sanders (7-2) are ranked No. 33 nationally.
Texas Tech opens the season Jan. 19 at the McLeod Tennis Center, when the Lady Raiders host Denver at 1 p.m.
