Transfer of the Reins ceremony is at 6:15 p.m. Friday
LUBBOCK, Texas - Prior to the start of the Texas Tech and Missouri Big 12 baseball series this weekend, there will be a special ceremony for the annual "transfer of the reins" for new Masked Rider Ashley Wenzel on Friday, April 27 at 6:15 p.m. at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park.
The ceremony will begin at 6:15 p.m. with Ashley's first ride scheduled at 6:25 p.m. Bradley Skinner, the Masked Rider for the 2011-12 year, will be transferring the reins to Ashley, who will take her first ride aboard Midnight Matador.
Wenzel, daughter of Gary and Theresa Wenzel, accepted the reins to Midnight Matador on Friday, April 20, becoming the 51st Texas Tech student to don the mascot mask and cape.
ADDITIONAL EVENTS THIS WEEKEND:
- Friday, April 27: Students are being invited out early to watch batting practice and to play tailgating games, including ladder golf, bean bag toss and washers. The first 100 students in attendance will receive a free t-shirt and a lucky student will be chosen to throw out the ceremonial first pitch before the series opener between Texas Tech and Missouri.

- Sunday, April 29: Double-T Day as kids 12 and under receive FREE admission with the purchase of a full-priced adult ticket. Sunday will also be a Red Raider Bingo Day at the ballpark.
