Texas Tech hosts the first round of the NCAA Tournament Saturday at 7 p.m.

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech continues its historic 2012 campaign Saturday night when the Red Raiders host the first round of the NCAA Soccer Championships at the John Walker Soccer Complex.
Texas Tech (15-5-1) will host North Texas Saturday in its first-ever NCAA Tournament match with first kick scheduled for 7 p.m.
Texas Tech enters the NCAA College Cup after advancing to the semifinals of the Big 12 Championships for the first time in school history last week. The Red Raiders defeated Kansas in the quarterfinals of the tournament in a 2-0 shutout before falling to eventual Big 12 Champion Baylor.
Tech last faced North Texas in 2010 where the Red Raiders defeated the Mean Green 1-0 at the John Walker Soccer Complex. The overall series between the two schools is tied 4-4.
The Red Raiders will look to continue an impressive performance on their home field in 2012 as Tech has compiled a dominant 8-1 record in games played at the John Walker Soccer Complex this season - outscoring opponents by a 21-6 margin.
Texas Tech ended the regular season by placing four student-athletes on the postseason All-Big 12 First Team - a school record. The group was led by stellar freshman Janine Beckie
who was tabbed as the conference Rookie of the Year after leading all Big 12 freshmen in scoring with 12 goals this season.
