LUBBOCK, Texas – The Red Raiders will officially tipoff the 2012-13 season tonight under first-year head coach Chris Walker, as Texas Tech hosts Texas-Permian Basin in a free exhibition game at 7 p.m. at the United Spirit Arena.
“We are excited to get under way,” said Walker. “This is an opportunity for our fans to get a first look at our squad. We look forward to seeing everyone out there.”
The Red Raiders will debut a new look and several new faces against the Falcons.
Texas Tech will unveil a brand new Under Armour white Armour Light uniform. The Armour Light uniform is 66 percent lighter than the UA Basketball uniform it debuted in 2006.
Redshirt junior Jaye Crockett is the most experienced Red Raider on the squad, appearing in 62 games over the past two seasons. He is joined by returning letterwinners Jordan Tolbert, Ty Nurse, Clark Lammert and Luke Adams.
A pair of junior forwards join the mix in Dejan Kravic and Kader Tapsoba, who both redshirted last season, and Toddrick Gotcher, who was sidelined with a foot injury last season.
New to the team are junior college transfers Trency Jackson, Jamal Williams, Jr., and Daylen Robinson, who are joined by incoming freshmen Josh Gray and Dusty Hannahs.
The game will be broadcast on Double T 104.3 FM and its affiliates, as well as being streamed on www.texastech.com . Calling the action are the new broadcast tandem of Brian Hanni and Chris Level.
