has announced nine additions to the Red Raiders signing class for the 2012-2013 year as five high school prospects and four junior college standouts will join the Tech baseball program in the fall after signing National Letters of Intents or financial aid agreements. "We have signed a tremendous class of incoming student-athletes for the 2013 season," fourth-year head coach Dan Spencer
said. "Coach (Tim) Tadlock has done an outstanding job in his first full semester as our recruiting coordinator and the quality of players he has helped sign speaks for itself. Coach Tadlock and coach (Jim) Horner did a great job locating, evaluating and recruiting these student-athletes. We were able to sign all of the players we targeted for this signing period." Matt Custred - RHP - 6-5, 210 - R/R - Arlington, Texas/Keller- Son of Dan and Jayne Custred. - Plays for coach Rob Stramp at Keller High School. - Currently in senior season at Keller High School. - Is 4-3 with a 1.46 ERA in 47 innings pitched with 78 strikeouts and 28 walks allowed while giving up only 19 base hits with two complete games. - Struck out 12 batters in a 2-0 shutout win over Keller Central on April 4. - Led team to its first win of the season over Amarillo Tascosa with a one-hitter on Feb. 23. - Played for the Arlington A's during the fall and summer. - Invited to the 2011 Area Code Showcase - Weatherford Junior College - Also participated in football (quarterback) as a freshman and sophomore. - During sophomore year joined four other teammates while starting a non-profit organization "Play it Forward USA" where they would collected used sporting equipment of all sports, refurbish the equipment and then store the items before giving them to youth organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club.
