Red Raiders Look To Snap Three-Game Losing Streak Against AggiesTexas Tech (5-4) will try and snap its December drought, as the Red Raiders host the North Carolina A&T Aggies at 6 p.m. on Friday at the United Spirit Arena.
After starting the year 4-0 in the month of November, the Red Raiders have gone 1-4 in December with two games to play against Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference foes North Carolina A&T and Florida A&M.
The game will tipoff a Texas Tech Friday, as the Red Raider football team will face Minnesota at 8 p.m. in Houston in the Meineke Car Care Bowl of Texas. There will be a watching party in Club Red following the Red Raider basketball game for those in attendance.
This is just the second-ever meeting between Texas Tech and a member of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. The Red Raiders defeated Delaware State, 78-60, on Jan. 4, 2011 at United Spirit Arena.
Last year, Texas Tech surpassed 60 points 15 times in 31 games. This season, the Red Raiders have eclipsed 60 points eight times in nine games. Texas Tech is currently averaging 76.2 points per game, which ranks fourth in the Big 12 and No. 49 nationally.
Leading the way for Texas Tech is junior forward Jaye Crockett, who is averaging 15.8 points and pulling down 8.9 rebounds per game. He ranks third in the league in scoring and first in rebounding. Other key contributors are Josh Gray (11.3 points), Dejan Kravic (9.8 points) and Jordan Tolbert (8.9 points).
North Carolina A&T (5-7) enters Friday’s game winners of two of their last three, after knocking off NJIT (76-71) and Eastern Kentucky (78-67).
The Aggies have been paced this season by Lamont Middleton, who is averaging 13.2 points and 3.7 rebounds per outing. Adrian Powell adds 11.4 points and 4.8 rebounds, while Jean Louisme chips in 9.7 points and 2.5 boards. Austin Whitter provides a presence in the middle with 5.8 points, 6.9 rebounds and 2.7 blocks.
