LUBBOCK, Texas - After capturing a school record 14 victories during the regular season, the Texas Tech soccer team will look to continue its banner year when the Red Raiders open play at the Big 12 Championships in San Antonio Wednesday.
Texas Tech concluded the regular season Friday night with a 2-0 shutout victory over Oklahoma State to secure a third-place finish in the highly-competitive Big 12 marking the highest conference finish in program history.
Now riding a five-match unbeaten streak, the Red Raiders enter the Big 12 tournament as a No. 3 seed and face No. 6 seed Kansas Wednesday with a 2 p.m. first kick at Blossom Soccer Stadium.
The match will be broadcast by the Big 12 Digital Network.
Texas Tech defeated Kanas earlier in the season with a 3-1 victory in Lawrence on Oct. 21.
The Red Raiders enter the Big 12 Championships with one of the leading scoring threats in the conference in Big 12 Rookie of the Year Janine Beckie. The Highlands Ranch, Colo., native ended the regular season pacing the Red Raiders and all Big 12 freshmen with 11 goals - four of which have been game winners.
Meanwhile the Red Raiders have allowed just two goals in their previous five matches - outscoring opponents by a 10-2 margin.
The winner of Sunday's match will advance to the semifinals set for Friday at 8 p.m.
