Texas Tech signee Lynn Kiro is shining in her native South Africa.

POTCHEFSTROOM, South Africa – Texas Tech signee Lynn Kiro advanced to the semifinals of the women’s $10,000 ITF Potchefstroom Tournament held at the Fanie du Toit Sports Stadium held on the campus of North West University.
Kiro defeated ATP No. 478 Anastasia Kharchenko of the Ukraine, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 and then topped No. 768 Lea Tholey of France, 6-0, 6-3. Kiro then lost to No. 492 Keren Shlomo of Israel, 6-1, 7-5 in the semifinals of the event.
Kiro teamed with Zarah Razafimahatratra of Madagascar to cruise to the finals of the doubles competition. The unseeded duo topped No. 3 tandem of Vavara Kuznetsova and Lena Specht, 6-3, 6-1 and followed that with a straight-set 6-1, 6-1 win over Americans Stephanie Kent and Casey Robinson to advance to the semifinals.
Kiro and Razafimahatratra then topped Madrie LeRoux and Chanel Simmonds in a super tiebreaker, 6-2, 1-6, 1-0 (12-10) to advance to the finals. The duo just came up short in the final, falling to No. 1-seeded Kim-Alice Grajdek and Keren Shlomo, 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-8).
Kiro is currently ranked No. 168 in the world by the ITF, but could see that ranking climb after her recent performance.
